The TurboLamik is configured from a PC. The official manual covers three pieces:

  • Maps: the configuration the unit runs.
  • TunerPro: the tuning application used to edit maps.
  • TCU Update: firmware updates for the unit.

This page will grow into a plain-English walkthrough of a first-time setup, plus the default programs, with community notes on the gotchas.

Firmware updates

Check what you are running

TunerPro > ECU Info > Software ID shows the firmware version on the TCU.

The update procedure

  1. Disconnect TunerPro from the unit first.
  2. Run the TurboLamik updater, select the firmware file, hit Process.
  3. Never cut power mid-flash. The flash takes under a minute; the dash shows “reset” when done.
  4. Load the matching XDF and ADX for the new version (betas have their own section on the download site). An old XDF on new firmware points at the wrong addresses.
  5. Download the bin from the TCU before editing. New features arrive with working defaults in the unit, and downloading picks them up. Then make your changes and re-upload.
  6. Big version jumps officially want a fresh base map, port your values across rather than flashing your old bin onto firmware several versions newer.

10.76 changed the map layout, so plan the jump

10.76 moved several table addresses and renamed around 130 more. Two consequences:

  • Flash the firmware and load the matching maps together. Loading 10.76 or newer definitions on older firmware throws Error 105 (“maps newer than driver”). It only fails in that direction: older maps on newer firmware are fine.
  • Do not edit a 10.76+ bin with a pre-10.76 XDF. Three tables were restructured at addresses that already existed, so an old XDF writes the right value to the wrong place rather than failing cleanly. Map Studio picks the right definitions from the bin automatically.

If you run BMW Gxx or Supra A90, note the single-CAN change above. The official manual still describes the old two-CAN wiring.

Dead shifter after an update or map load

If the shifter stops responding after a firmware update or loading a new map, check Can1 Type Selector. Maps ship with 32 (BMW F-series). E-series selectors need 30, G-series/Supra need 36, Dodge needs 81. The value silently resets to the shipped default when you load a fresh base map.

Base maps are box-specific

The 8HP45 and 8HP70 base maps differ in 1,327 values, including a different oil-temperature algorithm. Never run one box on the other’s map. Get the map for your exact gearbox from download.turbolamik.eu.
